    How we grow Waterlily’s

The Waterlily will be bare rooted and most of the leaf stems will be removed. This is to stop damage in transport. Try to pot it as soon as possible!

Use a shallow and wide container and add a layer of coarse gravel chips at the bottom. Fill the pot with some heavy clay soil and add in a generous handful of bonemeal and if you can get some well to rotted Kraal manure. Plant the rhizome at an angle in the container, with a node sticking up above soil level. Cover the soil’s surface with a layer of gravel to stop the soil from washing out. Gently lower the planted container into the water.

We only put pebbles on top if there are Koi in the pond as they will eat the rhizome!

In Spring it does help to take two teaspoons of 3.1.5 and put it into a small square if newspaper and twist like a sweet, Make a drill hole with your finger into the mus of the pot and insert the sweet and cover the drill up with mud. This will help feed the plant and encourage blooming.

The Lily should be in a Sunny position for flowering!
